Hope for the Hope Challenged: Anchored in His Word
When I came to Israel in 1982, at the age of 27, I arrived with only two suitcases, some hand luggage, and a box of books I’d mailed ahead. Debts were waiting, but the Lord graciously provided soon after I landed. I came as a volunteer on a one-way ticket, certain I would be there for as long as He wanted me. Now, more than 40 years later, Israel remains my home.
Over the years, I’ve experienced professional success, marriage, the grief of widowhood, many physical challenges, and a few wars. My hope has been repeatedly tested. Years ago, after giving my heart to the Lord and welcoming His refining fire, a trusted guide warned, “Debbie, you don’t know what you are asking for.” He was right.
Thankfully, my Savior has faithfully listened to every “yes” and mercifully ignored my every “no.” These blog posts are the fruit of that battle—to cling to the eternal hope found in Yeshua HaMashiah (Jesus, the Messiah). If you’re seeking honesty, transparency, and a reason to hope again, this is a good place to start.
Welcome—may these writings encourage and bless your own hope-challenged journey
